WhatsApp Not Responding

If the GoVista WhatsApp bot is not responding to your messages, follow these troubleshooting steps.

Quick Checks

1. Is your number connected? — Verify in Settings > Integrations > WhatsApp 2. Are you messaging the correct number? — Check you have the right GoVista WhatsApp contact 3. Is WhatsApp working? — Send a message to another contact to verify your WhatsApp is functioning

Common Issues

No response at all:

  • Your session may have expired (60-minute timeout)
  • Send "hi" or "menu" to start a new session
  • Check if the WhatsApp integration is still connected in settings

Partial responses:

  • The bot may be processing a complex request
  • Wait 30 seconds and try again
  • If sending media, ensure the file is not too large for WhatsApp

Error messages:

  • "Session expired" — Start a new conversation with "hi"
  • "Permission denied" — Your role may not have access to the requested action
  • "Device not found" — The device name or ID may have changed

If the bot stops responding mid-conversation, send "menu" to reset the conversation state and start fresh.

Reconnecting WhatsApp

If the integration has disconnected:

1. Go to Settings > Integrations > WhatsApp 2. Click Reconnect or Re-pair 3. Follow the QR code or pairing process 4. Test by sending a message

Rate Limits

WhatsApp Business API has sending limits:

  • Sending too many messages in a short period can trigger temporary blocks
  • The bot processes messages sequentially
  • Wait a moment between rapid-fire messages

Bot Not Understanding

  • Use the interactive buttons and lists when available instead of free text
  • Keep messages simple and clear
  • Use the exact menu options presented by the bot
  • The bot understands English and Turkish

Advanced Troubleshooting

  • Check if the GoVista API service is operational
  • Verify your organization's WhatsApp Business account is active
  • Contact support if the issue persists for more than 30 minutes

If you change your phone number, you need to reconnect the WhatsApp integration with the new number. The old number will no longer receive responses.
