Proof of Play

Proof of play provides verifiable records that specific content was displayed on specific devices at specific times.

What is Proof of Play?

Proof of play (PoP) is a log system that records every content item shown on every device, including:

  • What — The content item (image, video, composition)
  • Where — The device and store
  • When — Exact start and end timestamps
  • Duration — How long the content was displayed
  • Completion — Whether the item played to completion or was interrupted

Why It Matters

  • Advertising compliance — Prove to advertisers that their content ran as agreed
  • Internal accountability — Verify that campaigns launched on time
  • Billing verification — Support invoicing based on actual playback
  • Regulatory compliance — Meet requirements for content display in regulated industries

Viewing Proof of Play

1. Go to Analytics > Proof of Play 2. Select the date range 3. Filter by device, store, or content item 4. View the detailed playback log

Use proof of play reports when negotiating advertising contracts. Being able to prove exact playback counts and times adds credibility and supports premium pricing.

Report Contents

Each proof of play record includes:

  • Content item name and ID
  • Device name and location
  • Playback start time
  • Playback end time
  • Duration in seconds
  • Play count
  • Completion status

Exporting Reports

Export proof of play data for external use:

1. Select the desired date range and filters 2. Click Export 3. Choose format: CSV or PDF 4. Download the report

Data Retention

Proof of play data is stored for the duration of your plan's data retention period. Enterprise plans typically offer longer retention periods.

Proof of play data is generated by the device and uploaded on the next sync. If a device is offline for an extended period, the data will be uploaded once it reconnects. There may be a delay between playback and data availability in the dashboard.
