Device Tags

Tags let you organize and target devices flexibly, beyond the physical store hierarchy.

What Are Tags?

Tags are labels you attach to devices for grouping and targeting. Unlike stores and zones which represent physical locations, tags are flexible and can represent any grouping:

  • Screen type — "menu-board", "window-display", "welcome-screen"
  • Content type — "promo-screens", "info-displays"
  • Hardware — "android-tv", "tizen", "raspberry-pi"
  • Priority — "vip", "standard"
  • Campaign — "summer-sale", "new-product-launch"

Adding Tags

1. Go to Devices and select one or more devices 2. Click Tags or the tag icon 3. Type a tag name and press Enter 4. The tag is created and applied

Using Tags for Targeting

When creating schedules or deploying playlists, you can target by tag:

1. In the deployment dialog, select Tag as the target type 2. Choose the tag 3. All devices with that tag receive the content

Combine tags with store-level targeting for precise content delivery. For example, target the tag "menu-board" within the store "NYC Downtown" to update only the menu screens at that location.

Bulk Tag Management

1. Select multiple devices using checkboxes 2. Click Bulk Actions > Tag 3. Add or remove tags from all selected devices at once

Filtering by Tags

Use tags to filter the device list:

1. Click the Filter button on the Devices page 2. Select one or more tags 3. Only devices with matching tags are shown

Tag Best Practices

  • Use consistent naming conventions (lowercase, hyphens)
  • Create a tag taxonomy before large deployments
  • Document what each tag means for your team
  • Clean up unused tags periodically

Removing a tag from a device does not automatically change its playlist. If the device was receiving content targeted by that tag, you may need to reassign a playlist.
