Playlist Modes
A playlist's mode controls the order in which its items play. You choose the mode when you create or edit a playlist.
Sequential Mode
Items play in the exact order you arranged them, top to bottom, then loop back to the start. This is the default and the right choice for most signage — you control the flow.
Use it for:
- A set narrative or campaign order
- Menu boards where sequence matters
- Any playlist where the order is intentional
Shuffle Mode
Items play in a random order each loop, so the sequence varies. Use it to keep a rotation feeling fresh when order doesn't matter.
Use it for:
- A pool of promos or ads where variety helps
- Long playlists you don't want feeling repetitive
Choosing a mode
- Start with Sequential for most use cases — it's predictable.
- Switch to Shuffle when you have interchangeable content and want variety.
You can change a playlist's mode at any time; the change applies the next time devices sync.
Item duration is set per item, not by the mode. Give each image the seconds it needs to be read, and let videos play their full length.
