Creating a Schedule
Schedules let you automate content changes based on time, day, and date rules. Set it up once and your screens change content automatically.
What is a Schedule?
A schedule is a set of rules that determine which playlist plays on which devices at which times. Each rule specifies:
- Playlist — What to play
- Time range — Start and end time
- Days — Which days of the week
- Target — Which devices receive this schedule
- Priority — Precedence when schedules overlap (1-100)
Creating a Schedule
1. Go to Schedules in the main navigation 2. Click Create Schedule 3. Enter a name and optional description 4. Click Add Rule to define time slots
Adding Time Rules
For each rule, configure:
1. Select Playlist — Choose which playlist plays 2. Start Time / End Time — When the rule is active 3. Days — Select specific days (Mon-Sun) or use presets (Weekdays, Weekends, All) 4. Date Range (optional) — Limit the rule to specific dates 5. Priority — Higher number = higher precedence (1-100)
Recurring Rules (RRULE)
For complex patterns, use recurring rules:
- Every Monday and Thursday
- First Monday of each month
- Every other week
- Custom recurrence patterns
Use descriptive names for your schedules like "Breakfast Menu (6am-11am)" or "Weekend Promotions". This makes them easy to identify when you have many schedules.
Timezone
Schedules respect the timezone set in your organization settings. Devices in different timezones adjust automatically.
Assigning to Targets
1. Open the schedule 2. Click Assign Targets 3. Select target type: Brand, Store, Zone, Device, Tag, Region, or City 4. Choose the specific targets 5. Activate the schedule
Testing a Schedule
Use the schedule preview to see what content will play at any given time:
1. Open the schedule 2. Click Preview Timeline 3. Navigate through dates and times to verify the rules
Always set a fallback playlist to handle times when no schedule rule is active. Without a fallback, devices may display a blank screen during unscheduled periods.
