Creating a Playlist
Playlists are the core building block for organizing and playing content on your screens.
What is a Playlist?
A playlist is an ordered collection of content items (images, videos, designs, compositions) with playback settings. Each item has a display duration, and the playlist loops continuously.
Creating a New Playlist
1. Go to Playlists in the main navigation 2. Click Create Playlist 3. Enter a name and optional description 4. Select the playback mode (Sequential, Shuffle, or Weighted)
Adding Content Items
1. Click Add Item or drag content from your media library 2. Each item shows in the playlist timeline 3. Set the duration for each item:
- Images: Default 10 seconds, configurable from 1-300 seconds
- Videos: Automatically set to video length
4. Drag items to reorder them
Playlist Settings
- Name — A descriptive name for easy identification
- Mode — Sequential, Shuffle, or Weighted (see Playlist Modes article)
- Transition — Fade, slide, or cut between items
- Default Duration — Default display time for images
Keep playlists focused. Instead of one massive playlist with everything, create separate playlists for different purposes (menu, promotions, brand) and combine them with schedules.
Managing Items
- Reorder — Drag and drop to change order
- Duration — Click on the time to adjust
- Remove — Click the remove button on any item
- Preview — Click to preview any item
Playlist Preview
Before publishing, preview your playlist:
1. Click Preview on the playlist page 2. The preview plays through all items with correct timing 3. Check transitions, duration, and order
Deploying a Playlist
1. Open the playlist 2. Click Deploy 3. Select target devices, stores, or tags 4. Click Publish
Changes to a playlist that is already deployed are not pushed automatically. After editing a playlist, you need to re-publish it or the schedule system will pick up changes on the next manifest refresh.
