Video Content

Video is the most engaging format for digital signage. GoVista supports professional video workflows with transcoding, scheduling, and offline playback.

Uploading Videos

1. Go to Content > Media Library 2. Drag and drop your video files, or click Upload 3. Videos are automatically processed after upload 4. A thumbnail is generated for preview

Supported Formats

  • MP4 (H.264) — Best compatibility, recommended for all platforms
  • MP4 (H.265/HEVC) — Better compression, requires newer devices
  • WebM (VP8/VP9) — Good for web players
  • MOV — QuickTime format, converted automatically

Video Specifications

| Property | Recommended | Maximum | |----------|------------|----------| | Resolution | 1920x1080 (1080p) | 3840x2160 (4K) | | Frame Rate | 30 fps (CFR) | 60 fps | | Bitrate | 8-15 Mbps | 50 Mbps | | File Size | Under 500 MB | 2 GB | | Duration | No minimum | No maximum | | Audio | AAC 128 kbps | AAC 320 kbps |

For content that loops, ensure the last frame transitions smoothly to the first frame. This creates seamless looping without a visible jump.

Video in Playlists

When adding a video to a playlist:

  • Duration is automatically set to the video length
  • You can trim the duration to show only a portion
  • Videos loop if the playlist duration is set longer than the video

Best Practices

  • Compress wisely — 1080p at 8-10 Mbps looks great and downloads fast
  • Use constant frame rate — Variable frame rate can cause sync issues
  • Avoid interlaced video — Use progressive scan only
  • Consider file size — Smaller files sync faster to devices, especially over cellular
  • Test on target hardware — Budget players may struggle with 4K or high bitrate content

Very large video files take longer to download to devices. A 1 GB video over a slow connection may take 30+ minutes to sync. Consider this when planning content updates.
