Fallback Content

Fallback content is what plays on your screens when no schedule is active. It acts as your safety net to prevent blank screens.

What is Fallback Content?

Fallback content is a default playlist assigned to a device (or group of devices) that plays when:

  • No schedule is currently active
  • A schedule rule ends and no other rule takes over
  • A schedule is deactivated or deleted
  • The device has never been assigned a schedule

Setting Fallback Content

1. Go to Devices and select a device 2. Open Settings > Fallback Content 3. Select a playlist as the fallback 4. Save

Or set at the store level: 1. Go to Stores and select a store 2. Set the default playlist for all devices in the store

Best Practices

  • Always set fallback content — Never leave a device without a fallback
  • Use branded content — Company logo, brand video, or general information
  • Keep it fresh — Update fallback content periodically
  • Use low priority — Set the fallback schedule at priority 1-5

Create a dedicated "Always On" schedule at priority 1 with your brand content. This acts as a reliable fallback that ensures screens never go blank, even if no higher-priority schedule is active.

Fallback Content Ideas

  • Company branding loop (logo, tagline, brand colors)
  • General information (business hours, Wi-Fi password, social media handles)
  • Seasonal ambient content (landscapes, abstract visuals)
  • Corporate values or mission statement

How Priority Interacts with Fallback

The schedule priority system naturally handles fallback:

1. Active schedules with higher priority play first 2. When no higher-priority schedule is active, the system falls to the next lower one 3. The lowest priority schedule (your fallback) catches everything else

If you do not set fallback content and no schedule is active, the device may show a blank screen or the last cached content. Always configure a fallback to prevent this.
