Key terms used throughout the GoVista platform.

A-D

  • Asset — Any media file (image, video) uploaded to the content library
  • Bezel Compensation — Adjusting video wall content to account for the physical bezels (borders) between screens
  • Composition — A multi-zone layout that combines multiple content items into a single screen design
  • Content Sync — The process of downloading content from the cloud to a device for local playback
  • Dashboard — The web-based control panel for managing all GoVista features
  • Daypart — A specific time period during the day (e.g., breakfast, lunch, dinner) used for scheduling
  • Device — Any screen or player connected to GoVista

E-M

  • Emergency Alert — A high-priority message that overrides all scheduled content immediately
  • Fallback Content — Default content that plays when no schedule is active
  • Heartbeat — A signal sent by devices every 60 seconds reporting status (online, CPU, memory, disk, temperature)
  • Kiosk Mode — A locked-down device mode where the player app runs full-screen with no user interaction
  • Manifest — A versioned JSON document that tells a device what content to play, in what order, and when
  • Media Library — The central repository for all uploaded content

O-R

  • OTA Update — Over-The-Air software update pushed to player devices remotely
  • Pairing Code — A 6-character code displayed on a device screen used to register it with your GoVista account
  • Playlist — An ordered collection of content items with playback settings (duration, mode, transitions)
  • Proof of Play — A log confirming that specific content was displayed on a specific device at a specific time
  • RRULE — A recurrence rule format (RFC 5545) used for defining recurring schedule patterns

S-Z

  • Schedule — A set of rules that determine which playlist plays on which devices at which times
  • Schedule Priority — A number (1-100) that determines which schedule wins when multiple schedules overlap. Higher numbers take precedence.
  • Scope — The organizational level at which content or settings are applied (brand, region, store, device)
  • Store — A physical location containing one or more devices
  • Tag — A label attached to devices for grouping and targeting
  • Video Wall — Multiple screens arranged together to form one large display
  • WebSocket — A real-time communication channel between the dashboard and devices for instant commands
  • Zone — A defined area within a store or a region within a composition layout
