Writing Effective Prompts
Writing Effective Prompts
The quality of your AI-generated content depends heavily on your prompts. This guide teaches you how to write prompts that produce great digital signage content.
Prompt Structure
A good prompt follows this pattern:
[Subject] + [Style] + [Colors/Mood] + [Technical Details]
Example: A gourmet burger with melted cheddar cheese, professional food photography, dark moody background, studio lighting, 4K quality
Be Specific
Vague prompts produce generic results. Compare:
- Bad:
a coffee shop - Good:
Interior of a modern minimalist coffee shop with light wood furniture, large windows with natural light, a barista preparing pour-over coffee, warm and inviting atmosphere, professional architectural photography
Style Keywords
Use these to control the visual style:
- Photography styles: professional photography, studio lighting, natural light, macro shot, aerial view, flat lay
- Art styles: digital illustration, watercolor, 3D render, vector art, isometric, pixel art
- Quality: 4K, ultra-detailed, high resolution, sharp focus, cinematic
- Mood: warm, cool, dramatic, bright, moody, vibrant, pastel
Digital Signage Tips
- Leave space for text — Include "with empty space on the right/left for text" in your prompt
- Think about distance — Signage is viewed from afar, so bold and clear images work best
- Consider background contrast — Dark backgrounds work well for food and products
- Match your brand — Mention specific colors or brand attributes
Add "digital signage display" or "advertising poster" to your prompt. This helps the AI understand the intended use and generates content with appropriate composition and visual weight.
Prompt Templates by Industry
Restaurant: [Food item] on a [surface], professional food photography, top-down view, [brand colors] accents, appetizing, studio lighting
Retail: [Product] displayed on a clean white surface, professional product photography, minimalist, soft shadows, commercial quality
Corporate: Modern office environment, [subject], clean and professional, business atmosphere, soft lighting, corporate blue tones
Negative Prompts
Some models support negative prompts — things you do NOT want:
no text, no watermarks, no logos, no people
Iterating
1. Start with a simple prompt 2. Review the result 3. Add more detail to areas that need improvement 4. Regenerate until satisfied
Avoid overly long prompts (more than 200 words). The AI may ignore parts of very long prompts. Focus on the most important details.
